LOS ANGELES (TheWrap.com) - Rising star Josh Helman has joined the cast of Bryan Singer's "X-Men: Days of Future Past," which reunites the Australian actor with his "Mad Max: Fury Road" co-star Nicholas Hoult.
"X-Men: Days of Future Past" finds original "X-Men" stars Hugh Jackman, Ian McKellen, Patrick Stewart, Halle Berry returning to the superhero franchise along with "First Class" actors James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender and Jennifer Lawrence. The sequel has also added Peter Dinklage, Omar Sy, Fan Bingbing and Evan Peters as Quicksilver.
While Helman's role is being kept under wraps, it may prove significant given that the actor is expected on set for several weeks.
Like almost every Australian actor who has made the transition to American studio movies, Helman started out on the long-running Aussie series "Home and Away." He started gaining more attention after his breakout turn on HBO's "The Pacific" and the acclaimed crime drama "Animal Kingdom," which led to a supporting role opposite Tom Cruise in "Jack Reacher."
Helman will soon be seen alongside Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron in WB's "Mad Max: Fury Road," as well as the upcoming rugby movie "Blinder." He's repped by Gersh and Harrison Stokes.
"X-Men: Days of Future Past" hits theaters May 23, 2014.
